LORE is a nomadic research-based spatial practice exploring the relationships between people, places, and living ecologies. We work with local communities, artists, researchers, and more-than-human landscapes to uncover, collect, and reimagine the stories, memories, knowledge, and myths held within a place. Through counter-mapping, lore-making, workshops, performance, and collective making, we turn these living stories into physical and public forms — from maps and archives to masks, costumes, rituals, and site-based works.
Rather than treating environmental knowledge as something to simply document or preserve, LORE explores how cultural memory and ecological knowledge can remain alive through collective imagination, making, and exchange. Each collaboration is an opportunity to build a cultural friendship with a place and its communities: to listen, learn, create, and give something back. We are particularly interested in ecologies and communities whose stories are often overlooked, working towards a growing, living archive of local lore and ecological relationships.
